DAY 1

Discover the Camí Oliba with an MTB

STRECH 4

Leave Rupit via a very steep narrow stone pathway to your right, sign-posted as going to Tavertet. The path takes you up to a surfaced farm track at the top that follows the cliffs of L’Avenc as far as Tavertet.  On entering the village take the farm track immediately off to the right that is signposted to the village of Cantonigròs. It comes out on the main road C152. Follow it down for about 2 km and then take a turnoff signposted to Sant Julià (Saint Julian) de Cabrera.  From here one follows a track down to Sant Vicenç (Saint Vicent) de Torelló and along a pretty pathway to Torelló.

 DIA 2

STRECH 3

Set out from the main square or Plaça Major in Vic and take the bike route (bike carrel) that will take you to a path leading into the village of Calldetenes. At this point follow the Ruta dels Molins,  (the watermill route), which is a beautiful pathway that leads to the village of Saint Julià de Vilatorta (Saint Julian), following farm roads and paths to Folgueroles and Tavèrnoles. At this point follow the BV-5213 road with care (this road doesn’t have too much traffic), and it takes you to a hotel belonging to the Paradores Nacionales, called Parador Nacional de Sau. Turning off left, just before the Parador, one can visit the Monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres which is well-worth it. The route now takes you round the reservoir on a narrow-surfaced road just below the parador, which later becomes a wider road finally crossing over the reservoir at the Sau dam, and then winds up to a surfaced forest track. This steep forest track carries on up to Rupit and is a fairly demanding ride all the way.

DAY 1

The cemetery, art, tradition and curiosities of funeral culture, with Forum Vicus . Visiting the cemetery of Vic is not synonymous with dark or unpleasant stories, but on the contrary. The enclosure retains a series of artistic pantheons and ancient tombstones with allusions and symbols of the union or life of different characters. You will find annotations of premature death and their possible cause. Inscriptions and epitaphs in archaic Catalan, despite its official ban. We will discover an inscription in Esperanto. You will be able to locate the creator of Pa de Pessic or the victims of “the accident of king Alphonse XIII” in Osona and the photos of the incident. Contemplating the ancient funerary chariots and knowing which funeral rituals were practiced until half a century ago, explained with images from the past, will give us a pleasant vision of the site and of the fact of death in yesterday’s societies.

DAY 2

Itinerary of the aerodrome of Sant Julià de Vilatorta (enllaçar a una altra pestanya amb ) with a total of 13 shelters, a shed and a barrel of powder. The aerodrome was born in 1938 and becomes a privileged witness of the efforts of the republican government to create a network of defense structures to counter the Franco attacks. Aiming to mount small fighter-bombers, the aerodrome entered service in an attempt to stop the last offensive of the national troops on Catalonia. The aerodrome includes the municipalities of Sant Julià de Vilatorta, Santa Eugenia de Berga and Calldetenes.
