The MEV, Medieval Art Museum of Vic, opened in 1981, preserves a magnificent collection of medieval art with masterpieces of Romanesque and Catalan Gothic painting and sculpture. The collections of goldsmithing, fabric, forging, glass and ceramics offer a complete tour of the history of liturgical art and decorative arts in Catalonia. This collection of exceptional value, made up of more than 29,000 pieces, is exhibited in a building located next to Vic Cathedral and equipped with innovative museum facilities.

Opened in 1996 it brings together the industrial collection of Andreu Colomer i Munmany who for more than fifty years took charge of putting together more than a thousand pieces made entirely or partially of leather from around the world, of different ages and types (chests, screens, altar frontals, seats, saddles, figures for a theater of shadows, etc.).

The visit to Museu of Ter allows you to learn about the singular process of the industralization of Ter river. The visitor will see the force of the water by the spectacular hydraulic turbines which moved these river factories by the main machines of the spinning process. You’ll learn about the industrial culture and the business owners and workers from this region, a story about entrepreneurs, innovation, effort and cooperation which changed the country.

The Verdaguer House-Museum is the childhood home of Jacint Verdaguer (Folgueroles, 1845- Barcelona 1902), a key writer of the Romantic period in Catalonia. The Verdaguer House-Museum has been operating for over 50 years and is one of the oldest literary museums in Catalonia.
A tour of the facility enables visitors to understand and interpret the life of the poet who lay the foundations of modern Catalan literary language, as well as to enjoy the work that ensured his place in the canon of world literature.
Beyond the building itself, the village of Folgueroles can be experienced as an open museum, giving you the chance to find out about the physical environment of the author and its symbolic importance in his literary output, with works encompassing everything from Catalan modernism to land art. The village is located within the Guilleries-Savassona Natural Area.
The House-Museum is the starting point for several routes and activities that combine landscape and literature.
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 13:30. Tuesday afternoon from 17:00 to 19:00. Saturday from 17:00 to 19:00 (from 1 April to 1 November). Open all year round except 25 and 26 December, and 1 January. Closed on Monday except public holidays. More flexible times can be arranged for pre-booked visits.
Explore the house where the poet Jacint Verdaguer spent the first two years of his childhood. The bedroom and kitchen of the House-Museum show visitors how countryside folk lived at the end of the 19th century. An audio-visual presentation describes the dramatic and exciting life of the poet who laid the foundations of modern Catalan literary language through key works such as L’Atlàndia and Canigó.

Folgueroles clue-hunting game

Verdaguer Route in Folgueroles
This route takes in the House-Museum and several landmarks of the village related to the writer’s life and work (family homes, Carrer Major and the church), along with the wonderful beauty spots in the surrounding countryside, ending up at the Chapel of La Damunt or the Brins d’Espígol (Lavender Thread) Garden, the place where Verdaguer explains that his life as a poet began as he contemplated the Vic Plain, the Pyrenees and Pedraforca Mountain. Your guide explains and contextualises each of the places on the route and recites excerpts of Verdaguer’s work.

Verdaguer Route in the city of Vic
The route begins on the balcony of the Town Hall, from where you can observe the famous Plaça del Mercadal (Market Square) and Carrer Verdaguer. It continues by taking in various landmarks of the city that evoke the poet’s life as a student and the intellectual circles he moved in at that time. The route also includes a tour of the Verdaguer Collection of the Episcopal Museum, the exterior of the Episcopal Archive and of the asylum, which marked the most dramatic period in the life of Father Cinto, as he was known.

Verdaguer Route in La Gleva
Take a tour of one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in the Catalan baroque style, where Verdaguer experienced some of the most dramatic moments of his life. From the room where the poet stayed, participants can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Ter River while the tour guide evokes the final stage of the poet’s life by reciting excerpts from En defensa pròpia (In Self Defence), Flors del Calvari (Flowers of Calvary) and Sant Francesc (Saint Francis).

The Wheat Ecomuseum aims to go beyond the four walls of a conventional museum. Its rooms are a group of heritage sites scattered throughout the area, including farmhouses and village cottages, fields, forests, terroirs, market gardens, animals, farming tasks and local people. Wheat Ecomuseum Experiences
Following the farming calendar, the Wheat Ecomuseum offers visitors a chance to find out about farming tasks, tools and products through workshops and activities in which they learn about and get to perform tasks related to traditional trades and farming.
L’Alzinar de la Roca (Taradell)
This space is home to over 70 carriages, along with a wide range of bridles and farming tools, collected and restored by the Tonis Association of Taradell, which uses them in the annual Tonis Festival, a horse parade held in honour of Saint Anthony the Great.
Mas el Colomer (Taradell)
This traditional farmhouse located on the Vic Plain houses one of the most comprehensive collections of farming tools, bridles and basketry items. Close to the house, at Camp dels Ametllers, you can see the application of the trènit or quadrennial crop rotation system.
La Calvaria Flour Mill (Calldetenes)
This hydro-powered flour mill, located next to the Stream of Sant Martí de Riudeperes, displays reproductions of various mills powered by human and animal energy. It forms part of the Mills Route, which includes six mills, irrigation channels and pools, constituting an important feat of hydraulic engineering.
Bread Museum (Tona)
Inside what was once the Sañé bakery (now the Portet bakery), you can see tools related to the production of bread, whether in homes or in bakeries, along with one of the most extensive collections of traditional bread in Catalonia, made up of 300 breads from the counties of Catalonia and from around the world.
The Màgic Món del Tren (Magical World of Trains) is a facility suitable for all ages devoted to model train making and collecting. Relatively new to Catalonia, this activity aims to showcase the world of railways in miniature. Josep Arumí Bou, a collector of Märklin trains since 1984, has put together an impressive collection of HO scale (1:87) locomotives and wagons, along with other Number One scale pieces (1:32). This 1000 m2 exhibition (museum) is housed in a modern three-storey building suitable for all visitors and equipped with the latest technology.
Prices: Free admission for children up to 6 years old. Children from 6 to 12 years old: €3.50. Children from 13 years old and adults: €7. Groups of more than 10 people, youth card holders, members of friends of the railway associations, and adults over 65 years old: €6.
