Cliffs and Poetic Landscapes in the Catalan Highlands

The Collsacabra is a mountainous plateau located in the northeastern part of the region. It’s a rugged land of wild and spectacular nature, where villages seem to hang between cliffs, forests and ravines. A true rural and natural paradise less than two hours from Barcelona.

At the gateway to Collsacabra lies Roda de Ter, a town rich in history and cultural heritage. The Museum and Archaeological Site of l’Esquerda offers a historical deep dive, from prehistory to the medieval era, with thousands of archaeological remains already discovered — and many more still being unearthed. It’s a living site that tells the story of the territory.

Roda de Ter is also the birthplace of the great Catalan poet Miquel Martí i Pol, a central figure of contemporary Catalan literature and a symbol of social commitment and poetic sensitivity. Visiting his childhood home allows you to explore his world of words and emotions.

As you venture into the heart of Collsacabra, the landscape transforms dramatically: dense forests, towering cliffs and sacred mountains. One of the most iconic spots is the Cabrera Viewpoint, accessible by a scenic hiking route. Taking a guided tour helps you understand the territory in depth, but even from its base, the mountain’s silhouette is simply stunning.

Another must-see is the village of Rupit, considered one of the most beautiful tourist villages in the world. Its cobbled streets, hanging bridge, medieval houses and breathtaking natural surroundings make it feel like a storybook come to life.

Collsacabra is a region deeply committed to sustainability, actively protecting its natural resources and encouraging visitors to do the same. Here, beauty is preserved through respect and awareness.

In the Collsacabra region, camper areas in Cantonigròs and Rupit allow you to stay immersed in spectacular landscapes, with easy access to hiking trails, charming villages and pristine nature.
