Art, History and Gourmet Traditions in Vic

The Plana de Vic, located in the centre of Osona county, is a must-stop for anyone wanting to explore the true essence of inland Catalonia. At its heart is Vic, a medium-sized city with rural charm and deep historical roots. Known as the “City of the Saints” due to its religious past, Vic offers a rich blend of culture, tradition, and local life.

Start by exploring the historic old town, with cobbled streets, ancient architecture and the lively Mercadal Square, home to two of Catalonia’s most iconic open-air markets every Tuesday and Saturday morning.

Don’t miss the MEV – Museum of Medieval Art, with one of the finest collections in Catalonia, and the unique Leather Art Museum, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern creativity.

For a fun culinary activity, visit Ca la Teresona, where you can make your own Fuet de Vic, a delicious traditional cured sausage typical of the region.

Then, head to Manlleu, considered the capital of the River Ter, one of Catalonia’s most important waterways. Here you can walk or cycle a section of the Vora Ter Route, and visit the excellent Museum of the Ter, where you’ll discover the river’s historical, industrial, and ecological significance.

In the Vic Plain, you can stay overnight with your camper van at the designated areas in Manlleu and Vic — a convenient choice for exploring the county capital and its riverside and industrial heritage.
