Written Landscapes of the Vic Plain: Verdaguer and Martí i
Pol
The Written Landscapes of the Vic Plain Project: Verdaguer and Martí i
Pol is promoted by Osona District Council in direct partnership with the Jacint
Verdaguer Foundation, the Folgueroles Town Council, the Miquel Martí i
Pol Foundation, the Roda de Ter Town Council and the Les Masies de Voltregà Town
Council, with the aim of pooling efforts to create a literary tour that links
the two poets and the three municipalities.
Roda de Ter and Folgueroles, aware of the value of identity and of the symbolic
power generated by the work of a writer within a community, share the desire
to work together in order to keep the memory of their poets alive and to produce
high-quality information about them. This initiative, driven forward by the birthplaces
of both poets also includes other points of interest in the district where the
writers left their mark, such as Les Masies de Voltregà.
There are marked differences in the development of literary tourism at Folgueroles,
Roda de Ter and Les Masies de Voltregà: whilst Roda de Ter i Les Masies
de Voltregà are just starting, Folgueroles has a long tradition that was
consolidated in 1992 when the first "Verdaguer Tour" was published,
which was followed three years later by literary tours to places associated with
the poet in the municipality.
